It was extremely odd for Ann to be wearing a dress as lush as the one she'd been given. It was a spaghetti-strapped gown of a rich forest green silk that reached the floor, and was dotted with tiny, sparkling jewels.
She was still a little nervous as she and the smaller girl walked down the hallway, but she hid it well for the sake of appearances. Taking in a breath, she slowed at the sight of light flooding from under the large double doors of a room that seemed to correspond to the directions given on the invitation. "This seems like it's the right place," she said, not so much to her companion as to herself. With a slow breath, she grabbed the door-handles and pushed, not entirely surprised that they opened extremely easily.
The sight was breathtaking. The room, easily larger than any she'd ever been in, was brightly lit by large crystal chandeliers and sconces along the walls between huge windows overlooking the moonlit estate. Several long tables were positioned throughout, covered in elegant tablecloths and trays full of delicious-looking foods.
"Rena," Ann breathed, stunned, "Isn't this amazing?"
